Brainwaves Youth Leadership Summit
The Brainwaves Youth Leadership Summit is a five-hour conference designed for 9th and 10th graders in Lake County. This first-of-its-kind, inspiring event, held in partnership with the United Way of Lake County, NAMI Lake County, OH, and Youth Move OH, focuses on empowering young leaders to promote mental wellness, build leadership and advocacy skills, and lead with purpose.

- Cost: Free (Lunch included)
The Brainwaves Summit equips students with essential tools and insights:
- Acquire and practice Emotional and Social Intelligence Competencies
- Recognize Mental Health Signs & Symptoms: Identifying challenges and knowing when to ask for help.
- Advocate for Mental Wellness: Advocating for oneself and others effectively.
- Lead Discussions on Mental Health: Confidently initiating and leading conversations among peers.
- Support Friends in Distress: Taking appropriate action when friends show signs of distress.
Additionally, students can log their participation for volunteer hours, which we are happy to verify, for graduation or related assignments. We are also planning an advocacy adventure at our State Capital in early May. There, students who complete Brainwaves will have the opportunity to join their peers from school districts and NAMIs across Ohio.
How to Get Involved:
Students may be nominated by educators or self-nominate using the application link in the brochure attached. Once reviewed, selected applicants will receive a parental registration form via email. Applications are due by March 15, 2025. For more information, click Brainwaves 2025
Mentor Marlins Swim Team
Registration for the 2025 Mentor Marlins Swim Team opens in April for all ages up to 18. Have fun, improve your swimming skills, and compete; swimmers of all abilities are welcome! Practices begin the first week in June. For more information, click 2025 Mentor Marlins Swim Team
Spring Basketball Camps
Mentor Cardinals Basketball Camps: Mentor Cardinals will again be hosting spring basketball camps for students entering grades 1 through 9 for the 25-26 school year. All camps will be the week of June 2nd-6th, 2025 at Mentor High School. Learn fundamentals, refine skills, and build relationships! Flyers and more information to follow in the coming weeks.
Mike Moran Basketball Camps: Boys and girls ages 6-14 are invited to participate in the Mike Moran Basketball Camps during the week of June 16th-20th and June 23rd-27th, 2025. American Red Cross Blood Drive
Mentor Schools Paradigm Building, 6465 Center Street, will host a blood drive on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Donors can schedule appointments at RedCrossBlood.org, sponsor code: MentorPublicSchools.
Mentor Schools' elementary and middle school students can participate in the Blood Drive and receive a fun appreciation gift by recruiting adults to donate blood! The elementary or middle school that recruits the most donors to attend the drive will receive a trophy they can proudly display AND will receive a reward to purchase supplies, equipment, or any items of the school's choice if at least 30 pints are collected at the blood drive.

Achievement Centers for Children - Adapted Basketball Program
Registration is now open for our upcoming Jr Cavs and Cavs Elite Adapted Basketball programs hosted by the Achievement Centers for Children. These programs offer an excellent opportunity for students to engage in sports, develop basketball skills, and be part of a fun, supportive environment. We will be hosting sessions in both the East and West sides of Cleveland. Please find the program details below:
East Side:

We offer two divisions:

Mentor Sparkle Cheerleaders
If you are currently in grades 8-11, you can try out to be a 2025-2026 Mentor Sparkle Partner! The Sparkle Cheerleading team is an inclusive team comprised of students with and without disabilities. We are looking for male and female students to join the team and partner with students with disabilities. Applications are due March 3, 2025 by midnight. There will be a short mandatory ZOOM meeting for all interested parents and students on March 4, 2025 at 6:00 pm. Mentor Girls Softball League

Cardinal Soccer Club
Cardinal Soccer Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing area youth with the opportunity to learn and play soccer to the level of her/his desire and ability, while promoting a positive and safe environment. Mentor Schools Kindergarten Registration 2025-2026
Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year will begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025 for children who will be 5 years of age on or before September 30, 2025. Registering a Kindergarten student in the Mentor Public Schools can only be done by a custodial parent who resides within the district boundaries. A Kindergarten student cannot be registered by a parent or other relative who does not have legal custody of the child. Sub Zero Mission - Bowl for the Mission Event
Sub Zero Mission delivers hats, coats, gloves, boots, sleeping bags, and other warming items to the homeless in Northeast Ohio and other regions during the winter months. Their goal is "nobody should freeze to death in America." In an effort to reach this goal, they are hosting a Bowl for the Mission event on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Wickliffe Lanes, 30315 Euclid Avenue in Wickliffe. Mentor Schools-Bus Safety Procedures
As a reminder to our students, please adhere to the following bus safety procedures for safe street crossing in front of the bus:
- Tell the driver you need to cross. When students cross in front of the bus, the 8-way warning lights and STOP arm will be activated. Note: If you are unsure about where to cross the street, ask the driver to explain.
- After exiting the bus, move directly to the sidewalk and out of the DANGER ZONE.
- Move forward of the bus to a spot about ten feet ahead of the front bumper.
- Turn back to look at the bus driver and make eye contact.
- When the driver gives the signal, cross the street while checking continuously for oncoming vehicles.
- Upon reaching the far edge of the bus, take a look back to the rear of the bus to be sure no vehicles are passing the bus and running through the stop arm.
- After reaching the opposite side of the street, move onto the sidewalk and proceed directly home.
