Hello JUST RUN families! Race day is this Saturday, May 24th, 9:00am start time at Fairport Harbor Beach Park. We advise that you arrive well before 8:30am when the Park Rangers will be closing the top of the hill entrance to the Beach Parking Lot. After that time you may still enter the beach parking off of the East Ave. back entrance/exit. There is also plenty of parking throughout the village, just do not park on Second Street because the road is closed for the race start. We will be having a short scholarship presentation at 8:45am and then students will be directed up the hill for race start!
Program shirts for your student are done and will be distributed at school this week. Your student will also receive a race bib that has been specifically assigned to them for race day and must be pinned to the front of their JUST RUN t shirt that they should wear on race day. Each school has a different color shirt and this will help our students find their school ahead of the race, along with school signs that are posted along the hill below the lighthouse.
If you are planning to participate on race day, you will need to wear your race bib on the front of your shirt as well. Whether you are participating in the race or just getting a shirt, you will need to go to packet pickup on either Thursday 5/22 between 1-6 or Friday 5/23 between 12-4 and pick up your shirt and bib. Packet pickup is at Second Sole in Mentor, 8791 Mentor Ave. for parents and siblings NOT in the program who want to participate. Students signed up in the program will receive race shirt and bib through the school.
Lastly, we have a colorful new finish line area planned for students in the program! This finish line will be dedicated to students participating in the program and only students wearing the JUST RUN race bibs will be directed to finish under that arch. Family & Friends will finish right next to them under the GCXC finish arch. We ask that if for any reason you want/need to finish with your student, then take them to the left under the F&F 5Kk finish arch as only students with JUST RUN bibs will be allowed to finish under the JUST RUN arch. Everyone's time will be recorded regardless of which arch you go under.
